Advantages and disadvantages of sand casting
Sand casting generally uses wood as a pattern, with sandbox tooling, and smashing sand to form a model.
The advantages are low cost and small deformation, suitable for castings with geometry. But the appearance is rough. Since it is basically wood mould, aluminum type is required for large quantity. Therefore, it is not cost-effective to make low quantity.
Another method of sand casting is resin sand casting. This is much better than ordinary sand casting. The method is to combine resin and sand. The outer mold of the casting is relatively hard and suitable for some complicated shapes. But it also has the common problem of sand casting, that is, the shape cannot be arbitrary, and it is also required to be able to pull out from the sand mold.
